Still Hiking the East Track Wetlands of The Vermilon River. A Post to Camera Critters.

NE Wetland

Channel And NE Wetland
As you can see from photo one the north wetland is still frozen over, although the channel that flows under the old track is open and running.
SE Wetland

You may have to click to enlarge as there are a lot of photos in this post. If you're a little lost check out yesterday's post to get up to date. Photo three shows how open the south wetland is.

The Usual Bribe

And Here He Is.
Hard to believe what a peanut will get you in the north isn't it?

Flying Geese

Close Up

The Sparrows sing us onto the trail and the Geese provide entertainment with their attempts to deal with the ice.
A Pair Of Mallards
The Mallards are new arrivals and will stay to the far side of the wetland. We can't get any closer to them because the land trail is still snowed in.

Killdeer

The Killdeer I think are searching for places to
nest. The Killdeer are members of the Plover family.

  8. What a beautiful selection of birdlife you have - and I have to say that it still looks rather frigid in your part of the world. I think "brrrr" when I see that snow and ice. I particularly love the little kildeer with it's stripy scarf - it's a very striking bird.

  10. Wow, lots of beauty around you, Gary.
I love the last photo in particular, but it's also nice to see the pair of mallards. We saw lots of them in Europe. Just returned from a month-long trip, so have to catch up on my commenting. Glad to see you and Boom are still blogging.

  15. Hi Gary...and Boomer,
    Wonderful set of images!
I especially enjoy seeing the Killdeer. I've watched closely but so far haven't seen any. They like to nest in my gravel driveway and have the past two years.
