Hiking the West Side of The Vermilon River. A Post to SWF

Monday brought rain in the form of an electrical storm. So hiking began this week on Tuesday, and Wednesday. Maybe again on Friday, as it's raining today, and we need it disparately.
I hiked the west side of the River to the north, and to the south for a change.

THE POST IS AGAIN SET UP FOR THE SLIDE SHOW SO CLICK ANY PHOTO TO ENLARGE AND WATCH IT.

The mornings are cool which accounts fro the mist on the River.

These are a series of photos of the female Redstart, a beauty in her own right, but extremely illusive. The males were suppose to be with the female, but Google is playing games today.

Below is a Magnolia Warbler, peeking at me. This was a difficult ID, but the yellow and black markings go all the way down his chest.

The next are all Cedar Waxwings who also decided to come out and play.

This one is a real question mark as these head on shots are difficult to ID. I think a Wood Thrush, but maybe an immature Robin.

  8. Wonderful shots as usual. I hope you get as much rain as you need. We've had a lot of storms but it has been so hot we need every bit of rain we've gotten.

  27. The Redstart and the warbler are new for me and I'm wondering if the Ring-billed Gull could be seen here in Vancouver. I haven't gotten to know the many types of seagulls at all yet. Too many others to work on. (hate if when google plays games)

  28. The scenery and the birds, especially the Purple Finches, are great!

  29. Is that bird really called a dragon hunter? (I'll Google it.)... as always the walk was wonderful and as always I'm in awe of the number and variety of birds you see at one walk. (That's be a whole year's worth of bird posts for me, if I were even lucky enough to get that many in a whole year.) I love virtual birding with you (and butterflying and looking at plants too for that matter). Off to look at the slide show.
