A little worn out |
We had our brief session of warm weather, which brought rain and then reverted to cold temperatures with high north winds, generally leaving a mass of ice that restricts our travel. So Boom & I have cabin fever and need a touch of summer in the company of these butterflies of summer.

I needed the same thing this week, I have been looking at photos from last summer. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo and beautiful butterflies. I can not wait to start seeing some in my yard.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping I'll be in the company of some of these painted ladies soon myself.
Hope your weather changes soon. :)
Yes, I want warm weather when the butterflies fly from one flower to another...
ReplyDeleteTerrific capture of butterflies. I tried to capture butterfly when flying but it was tough because their movement was unpredictable!
I don't blame you for having cabin fever, Gary. I have it, too. Spring may be just around some people's corners, but it's a long way from any corners in Alberta.
ReplyDeleteLove your painted lady!

ReplyDeleteIt'll be a while yet Carletta. I just hope we get enough snow to cover the ice.
ReplyDeleteAnd Yoshi the colours blur when they're in action.
ReplyDeleteHi Kay. Boom and I just got out for a prolonged walk by another route. I couldn't believe how happy he was about it. I got subjected to a prolonged talk.
ReplyDeleteSame here ladyfi but with a wind chill.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dominic for the great words.
ReplyDeleteHi Louise. Just the colours warm you up!
ReplyDeleteYou're right there EGW.
ReplyDeleteHi Andrew. I see it's warming up over there.
ReplyDeleteHi Gary, seeing these butterflies reminded me that once our wildflowers gardens come to full bloom we will have so many that I won[t run out of colorful subjects. Enjoyed seeing these reminders of what's yet to come.
ReplyDeleteawesome butterflies! Starting to see some around here, good signs!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteWhile we don't have that ice that is keeping you and Boomer indoors, I could still use a dose of butterflies.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterflies. Love the colorful design on them.
ReplyDeleteI too keep chasing these pretty critters. :)
ReplyDeleteYou got great captures.
Summer must be on the way Gary and I can't wait to see a few Painted Ladies in the UK again - I saw a few in Egypt.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, Gary. They give one a yearning for summer for sure!
ReplyDeleteHi Phil. They sure are representative of summer aren't they
ReplyDeleteHi Willard. Those mourning doves of yours remind me of summer also!!
ReplyDeleteVery impressive, and a nice reminder of summer. I've got some photos I need to put up for Camera Critters, but nothing this beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGlad you went back and dug these photos out! We can all use a touch of summer right now.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures of American Painted Lady or American Lady (Vanessa virginiensis). Our butterfly bush was covered last summer with many butterflies including the Painted Lady.
ReplyDelete- Cheers from Toronto.
They may be a little worn-out but pretty neither the less.I enjoy them here in Georgia.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots of these painted ladies! Even the tired-out one looks just beautiful. Spring will come eventually. (OK, I know, easy for me to say in our 80 degree Florida weather -- (as my kids are getting tired of my telling them when we talk).
ReplyDeleteGreat images of the "Ladies" I always look forward to their arrival here. Cheers and here's to a great week ahead!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterflies! Love the design on their wings..
ReplyDeleteHi Al. Glad you enjoyed the touch of summer.
ReplyDeleteThat sure is right Mary.
ReplyDeleteHi Guild-rez. Welcome to the Vermilon River.
ReplyDeleteThe summer was hot and dry. I think it shows on these guys, Jean.
ReplyDeleteHi Sallie. Actually Sallie it's only the ice that is bothering me. It restricts our hiking!!
ReplyDeleteHi John. Thanks for the visit.
ReplyDeleteThey are beauties, Mumsy
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos -- I'm hoping for spring when I can see some butterflies in my garden!
