More Foggy Scenes, Warblers, and Critters Of The Vermilon River.

The scenes are of different parts of the River and its wetlands in a before, and after the mist or fog sequence.

The first scenes are of the upper River. The repeat of the curved railway track was intentional as I forgot to include the scenes from the beaver pond on the other side in the last post. The Raven as I see him, at this moment anyway, should have been included with the foggy track sequence as he is so morbid looking in his pose. In fact I'm sure that he would have delighted Edgar Allen Poe.

Upper River In Mist.

The scary track leading to ...

The beaver pond bathed in fog.

The beaver lodge in fog.

As soon as the fog clears, the scene changes totally. Opposite is the Moose Lake Wetland in the sun looking, as if it was a tottally different day.
Reflections on Moose Lake wetland.

As the the trees and brush on the small off trails lose their leaves, they're easier to navigate. I found this perfect campsite above the rapids. It's cleared and a fire ring exists, but the real find is for a person with a canoe, as the current on the curve is mid river  making for a short paddle to reach quiet water again; thus, avoiding being swept into the rapids around the corner. It's also a perfect place to swim, as the lead in to the water is a gentle sloping rock shelf. Even more important it's a beautiful place with no one around.

Chickadees feed on just about anything, but mainly insects. They along with the warblers keep control of the leaf miners in the birch trees. This sequence shows this one going after grubs in the web relentlessly.

These are  are Black Throated Green Warblers. They're really a handsome bird.

Oven birds get their name from the shape of their nest. Some say they're the plainest of the warblers, but with that eye set up, I don't agree.

  10. Wow!!! The misted beaver pond is breathtaking...so quiet, still and peaceful I am sure. [I LOVE FOG!!] And your birds...excellent, wonderful...so many words come to mind...right down to the beautiful Autumn foliage. Now that swamp sparrow was something else...first, I've never heard of it before, and so well camouflaged that I had to enlarge to see this beauty!!!

  35. Wonderfully mysterious foggy shots. Always love the birds and you got some good reflections in the water. Looks like some of the trees are starting to change colors in your neck of the woods. I love fall and can't believe it's not too far away although it probably reaches you sooner than here in NC.

I didn't have time to look at the slide show when I was here yesterday...of course the birds are even more wonderful in that format...but I wanted to say that the first few photos, showing the change from fog and mist to bright sunshine are just wonderful looking at them one after the other -- I could almost feel that fog lifting.
