Wet Weather At The Vermilon River.

Leading into Canada Day, we've just had five days of rain which curtailed a great deal of hiking. But the forest is alive in wildflower blooms, and redolent with the smell of wild rose. This is an especially long post so use the slide show, although there is some copy beside some of the photos. A post to: ID Rather Be BirdingOur World TuesdayWBW.

  1. Gary, this is a wonderful post! The birds busy and singing and flowers every where. The scent of roe and choke-chelly must be just wonderful. Red clover and iris and whole meadows to blooms, blueberries swelling and skeins of flying geese. I wish Boomer were there with you to share all these delights.

  11. You are a great educator, as well as photographer.
We have had 44mm of rain yesterday. I'm glad I'm on high ground in Ontario. It's been very wet in Alberta, too, and fires in Newfoundland.
    Cheers from Cottage Country!

  12. Nice series of bird photos, and I love the flowers and butterflies. Thanks for visiting my blog while I was away for a couple of weeks. Just got back to Illinois, and we are having your kind of wet weather. The only good thing about it is that it gives me a chance to catch up on correspondence and photo editing.

  20. Love the blue wildflowers...looks quite similar to the Lupine we had in our Colorado mountains. I must say, of just the short time I've been birding, I've never seen a redstart perched in a tree. That's a first [for me]...they're always foraging on the ground.
You have kingbird and catbird --they look like the very same bird species?!!!

    Great post, as always Gary.
