The much maligned crow is both scavenger and hunter. In addition, he's an attractive fellow and an incredible flyer, able to ride the thermals at will. According to most bird books these birds are probably the most intelligent of the birds along with their relatives, the Raven. The photo showing the crow in flight with his kill is somewhat disappointing in quality but interesting just the same.
Excellent study. I find these birds almost impossible to photograph. It's like the light is just sucked into a black hole. Your shots show some iridescence and phenomenal feather detail. Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteNice photos.. strong looking bird.
ReplyDeleteI love all corvids, especially the jackdaw from my old home:-) They are difficult to photograph though; it's easy to lose fine detail in the stark contrast between dark and light. You did well however. Good detail, nice shots!
ReplyDeleteHi Hilke: Nice to hear from you again, and thanks for the compliments.
ReplyDeleteHi Dawn: Thanks for visiting and glad you enjoyed the crows.
ReplyDeleteHi Springman and thanks for the complements. I should have added to the post that crows and ravens were the familiars of Merlin of the Arthurian legend.Just upgrading their image.
ReplyDeleteGreat close-up photos of crow! It's so hard to get so close to them. Keep the good work!

Hi Linda: Thanks for the visit and compliments. I think crows are actually quite beautiful; no wonder they figure in aborginial legends.
