Scenes, Butterflies, Birds and Squirrels of the Vermilon River. A Post to SWF.

River before Rapids.
The skies as you can see are not especially vivid. They range from overcast to a bit of sun, although we have had rain, which we needed. So for the post today I included some shots that I like from my hikes, and not much copy.

  9. I love the pix, Gary, but what really made my day was your use of the word "copy". Memories of my many, many years in the printing and newspaper biz. Sigh.

  13. My favorite shot of the river is the one before the rapids -so tranquil! And the yellow rumped warbler is so focused on what it's doing:)

  15. Love the turkey vulture photo, and the squirrel peaking. And, of course, this dry, dry, summer, it is always wonderful to see water shots.

  17. I think this is going to be the best Sky Watch Friday yet. The things I have seen are very encouraging and the photography is spot on. I really admire "your" photography skills and your critical eye for composition, lighting and texture. Your photos of a variety of things shows your best judgement. I really like your header photo.

  18. Beautiful, wild-looking country. I'm glad you're chronicling it. That squirrel is adorable, but, then, I'm fond of the little marauders.

  19. All beautiful photo's, the shots of the rapids and the very co-operative models. I like the red squirrel, ours are mainly grey now except up in the highlands of Scotland. I love the photo of Boomer, I am assuming that is Boomer.
