A Memorial to My Friend and Companion, Boomer Of The Vermilon River.

This is the most difficult of all posts, and indeed, of all articles that I have ever written. Boomer went to   Wildlife Valhalla on Thursday, May 23,2013. I miss him desperately.

A post to:Id Rather be Birdin,Our World Tuesday, and WBW . I'll post to the memes, but I'm not certain if I'll follow most of them this time. Right now its easier to be in the forest where Boom and I wandered for fun.

  8. Gary my thoughts are with you; it is a such a tough time to work through. You will find how it works best and just getting out and about in the forest will no doubt help you just walk it out and help soften the blow just a touch. Your blog posts have always been such a treat, you and Boomer were such a great team together. Take care ... repair, in your own way

  11. Gary, like Nancy, I can hardly see my keyboard for tears. You, I know, were at one with Boomer. Losing him is losing a part of yourself. Blogland will still be here however long it takes you to at least get a scab over the hole in your heart. Yes, go to the forests and streams, Boomer will still be with you for a while and look out for you.
I am deeply, deeply sorry for your loss and hope Boomer sends you some other companion from the wild to help you through this terrible time.
    Hugs and Blessings . . . Arija

  13. Gary, another comment today, I usually end my blog with a quotation, and today it is some words by Helen Keller, and is dedicated to you and your beloved Boomer.
"What we have enjoyed, we never lose...
all that we love deeply becomes a part of us"
Take care, have time in the forest and trees, walk the same familiar tracks,Boomer will walk with you in spirit always. fond greetings from Jean.

Please do not be misled by the sadness of the lost, but rather remember with joy the moments you enjoyed together. A big hug Gary, we are all with you!

  40. Gary, I am sooo sorry to hear about your loss of Boom! Losing a canine companion is just like losing a close family member in my experience. Each dog has his/her own personality which is irreplaceable. I have lost two dogs and each time after a couple of months or so I was saying to myself "I need a companion to take on my walks" and got another rescue puppy that needed a home as much as I needed a canine friend. I hope that eventually you'll too find such consolation.

  44. Having never met you and Boomer personally, I've only journeyed with you on your blog, but through your stories and photos I know what a great companion Boomer was. I, too, have an aging large dog that has been my long-time companion and just reading your post brings tears to my eyes. Hoping your hikes will soon bring smiles, even if they're teary, as you remember Boomer exploring his woods. Sending you warm hugs from me, Panzer and our youngest, Dexter.

  45. I have just popped over from my blog to you after you left a comment. I am so sorry to read you have lost Boomer. Dog family members are so precious to us all, they seem to know how we are feeling and act accordingly. It is a huge void when they leave us. My thoughts are with you at this time and I hope your time with your memories in the forest are of great comfort to you. Take care. Chel

Passei para uma visita e sei o quanto você está triste.
Eu também perdi um cachorro no início do ano e ainda tenho muita saudade.
Força amigo, prefiro lembrar dos bons momentos com meu animal de estimação, é menos doído.
    Boa semana!

  50. Gary I lost my beloved cat last week so I know how you feel right now! My cat was 15 years old and a member of my family just as much as a person would be. We will never forget our furry friends--they live on in our hearts. Boomer is running wild and free in the great beyond, and so is my cat Bo!

  59. I can fully relate with you because we lost many pets also in the past. In fact we don't have a dog now because we don't want to experience our last episode with our dog Jopet. However, i can't understand when you said Boomer went to Valhalla Wildlife, what happened? I am sure if he is alive he is missing you terribly too.

  68. I'm sorry to hear this, I only noticed in the latest bolg somthing was amiss. I know how you feel we lost two whippets with in weeks of each other and though we still have two dogs one misses them greatly and the little sheltie keeps trying to cheer the other up. I think we will get another at some time but it will never replace what you have lost.
