Skies and Whimsy of the Vermilon River. A post to Sky Watch Friday.

Strange Skies
These skies are so typical of the weather here which has been warm, wet and now cool again. Today is about 12C or 18F.

Boom & I have been involved in domestic chores and finally got our outdoor plants in the hope that the frost season is over. I bought a New Guinea Impatience in the hope that the hummingbirds like the colour. As well I weeded the garden and cut the lawn to inhibit the growth of dandelions. I remarked to another resident of the complex that dandelions only grow on the periphery of the forest as other forest plants force them out and the trees shade the amount of sun available to them. I also added that perhaps instead of an English park we needed to have a landscape more in keeping with our home ecology. The idea was totally repugnant even though the park approach is a complete failure. Flexible minds in the north are at a premium.

The real clincher in the weather is the high winds from the south which are constant and drying, effectively sucking up any moisture that falls

Sick Sky.

These rather sickly yellow skies preceded some heavy storms.

I included these moon shots because I find them appealing. I think they`re simply the result
of the shakes that got progressively worse.

I have written this post twice because the site refused to save copy. As well this morning I could hardly get into the site. And my preview area has never worked well since Blogger set out to rectify its meltdown. I remember Google's reassurance that its data collection was in safe hands. But I think Google has feet of clay, so be careful everyone what information we give them.

  3. I like the yellow skies Gary. With the hint of branches in the foreground, I find them intriguing. That's the way all my shots of the moon look ;)

  5. Your photos even made the yellow skies stand out. I hope Boomer was helpful with the chores.
p.s. We have been inundated by high winds all week here in Minnesota too.

  6. Marvelous captures as always, Gary, and I, too, like the yellow skies! Unfortunately, I too, think Google has feet of clay as I'm still having some weird things happen. I'm fairly certain that Sam Schnauzer and I will be covered with mold before this rainy season finally ends -- if indeed it ever does!! Hope you and Boomer have a great, trouble free weekend!

  7. Those yellow skies do look rather sickly. I like the shaky moon shots.

Maybe try Windows LiveWriter for posting to blogspot. Works for me.

  8. I lost two geranium from my balcony due to the high, drying winds!
And I am so with you on the garden idea - what fools who insist on a tradition that does not fit.

  10. It won't make you feel any better, Gary, but a lot of people have had problems with Blogger lately. Hang in there. It too shall pass.

    The clouds are beautiful!

Inflexible minds are common in south-central Ontario too. Would you believe there are many people slipping over the U.S. border to purchase pesticides...even though it's BAD for the environment? Hmmm.

  14. Funny, the yellow sky makes me feel sickly, but the wobbly moon doesn't! I love the photo of your crow. Does he keep Boomer company when you're out trekking, or does he follow you?

  17. Wonderful clouds - such an unusual colour! My whole lawn is a haven for dandelions it would seem! They have a right to grow too though...

  19. Great skies, and I do love the wobbly moon shots...very effective! I too am keen to get out in the garden, but the wind and rain that plagues us almost every day here in Vancouver is something of a deterrent! I did find a great new plant...you might want to check out Italian Heather online...it's pretty cool...:)

  21. I like your shaky moon shots. What a lot of gardening you got done!
Great clouds both the white and sulphorous yellow ones.

I've had fun and games with blogger too when it would not allow me to put the writing where I wanted. Somehow when I changed to my Mac the problem stopped.
