Cedar Waxwings, Elegant and Candid, of The Vermilon River. A Post to World Bird Wednesday.

The first photos are of course examples of the sheer elegance of these birds, even when viewed from the rear as number 3 is. The last 2 seem so out of character, but I guess I caught him just out of his bath in the river. Not much more needs to be said, does it?

  3. WOW!!!! You really have that Nikon smokin' hot. "Elegant" is exactly the right word to describe these birds. I have been trying to find the correct berry bushes to plant along the river to attract them in. I love that they flock. I'd guess you have five different birds here.
Thanks again for your great help getting WBW started and helping to nurture it along. Can you believe its week VIII?

  4. Yup, they're all different except for the last 2 which are the same. Plant crabapple trees, you'll get them. Thanks Springman.

  5. I love these little guys, they look like bandits with the masks around their eyes. They pass through our area so quickly I have to be lucky to catch sight of them before they move on.

  29. Beautiful pictures. One time we had cedar waxwings in our yard (in Oregon before we sold our stick house there)...we only saw them that once -- we were told that they vary their migration patterns every year.
