Trees With a " bluey " Grey Sky. |
In the last series someone asked if I liked the gray skies. Yes I do, and no I'm not in the least affected by it negatively.Someone send me recently a series of slides shot north of the Artic circle depicting some of the life of Laplanders. All of the scenes, except for the northern lights, are photographed in a gray/dark light brightened by the snow. Their clothing is bright, but their dogs, like Boom, and their reindeer are monochromatic. They live with it and enjoy it and so do I. I don't want to give you the impression that we get gray skies all the time, but my feeling is we get more of them now. When I first came here some 15 or 20 years ago the usual thing was a big snow storm, and then a week of bright sun with intense cold say-40C at this time of year. That I think is not the case now.
A Post to Scenic Sunday. For more scenes from the world see: http://scenicsunday.blogspot.com/.
Our world is a beautiful place, color or no color.I like the 3rd photo especially, showing the different blues. It almost looks like the trees are blue spruce,I wonder if they are?phylliso
ReplyDeleteHi phylliso: I think you're an optimist, and therefore naturally positive. And that's an advantage in this world. Regards Boom & Gary.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see the lay of the land. It is so flat around here your hills look very inviting and picturesque!
ReplyDeleteHi Springman: But you have to climb them, and that can be quite an effort.
ReplyDeleteI think I would like to ramble in those hills. We are getting a bit old for the elevation at our summer place. Starting at near 10,000' and going up from there is a bit hard on aging bodies.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful that what it is, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images of a lovely landscape.
ReplyDeleteTo Martha Z: You'd probably love wandering the forest which is filled with trails up, around and into lakes that are free of humans.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrew for the visit and kind words.
ReplyDeleteHi Bob. As I said on your site Boom and I are terribly sensitive about forests and that's any forests. So good luck in your battle.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful Gary. And I am honored to have a professional such as you visit my little amateur effort. Thank you for sharing the scenic area where you live -- and your expertise! And Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSallie, I'm about as amateur as you can get. I only started photography a year ago and the blog in Oct. I think, but Boom & I keep trying because it's fun.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful winter scenery. I love the cold atmosphere of these shots!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenery...great shots!
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris from someone who is aware of the effects of winter light. Note: Chris is a resident of Iceland and is using his flash to photograph birds.
ReplyDeleteTo SLH: Thanks for the visit and kind words.
ReplyDeleteExcellent shots. I love trees and of course the forest. We live in and along side a forest. I could not live without the trees and mountains.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work. MB
To Small City Scenes: Thanks for the visit and kind words.
