The East Track of The Vermilon River. A Post to SWF.

East Track in the Mist.
After fooling around with the weather, this is a nice quiet post. (See Wednesday's post). I made the hike before the current weather disaster- rain, cold and winds to about 60 km. per hour. In fact the mist is rising as I arrived. This is an abandoned track also, although a bit remains for shunting purposes. You can see the effect of colour background on all the photos that I post on the blog. And we go through several colour changes from the gray of winter to the intense blue of summer to the gold of fall. The white Crown has an injured or deformed leg, but gets along quite well. We give him an extra ration.

Strange Happenings At The Vermilon River. A Post to WBW.

Huegy Standing In For The Ravens.
We've had intermittent rain and damp weather for more than five days, with more to come. So I said to Boomer we should change the weather. Remember that old guy Merlin something or other, we met on our hike to Mystic Lake. He made us keepers of the Vermilon River Forest, and gave us those funny old books all filled with those strange incantations. Let's try some out. Huegy will stand in for the Ravens for a peanut, and you can stand in for the Wolf Clan. So here goes, and it probably won't work anyway. Gee, that's a weird yellow light....

Then The Frost Appeared.

Wow What a change!!
I wonder how you reverse this. It doesn't seem to say.

Scenes Of the Upper River, Blue Jays,Canada Geese, Wood Ducks Sparrows, Cedar Waxwings and a Chickadee in Flight.

Looking N and W
This post is in effect a continuation of my SWF post. The photos were taken prior to the five days of rain which were correctly forecast. As you can see the river is low, but the most remarkable thing is the sky in reflection is turning the river water turquoise. It's usually dark and in actuality is stained rusty from the minerals in the rock. The Crow is not Huegy, but one of his team of three. The Black-capped Chickadee was not to be outdone by the other flying birds. The Sparrows are well represented here in their diversity. If you want to see the ones that I have seen so far this year go back three posts to last Wednesday's post to WBW. Click on the images for the slide show.

Fall Scenes, Canada Geese, Sparrows, Rusty Blackbirds, Wild Flowers, and A Water Bomber of the Vermilon River.

Upper Vermilon Looking West.
The current weather forecast is for three days of intermittent rain. So yesterday, Boom & I rushed out to get some more fall forest photos, before the rain knocks down the leaves. This is some of the collection from the upper river. You'll see mist in some photos as it rises off the river. Nothing is consistent in the forest as there are still some wild flowers blooming.

I put in the water bomber thinking most of you would not have seen one before. There's a fire base  here complete with aircraft including choppers. A Post to SWF @ http://skyley.blogspot.com/  NOTE: The slide show is working again. Just click the photo and go.
