Skies of the Vermilon River. A Post to Sky Watch Friday.

A Stormy Sun Rise

Another Uneasy Sky

See that incredible blue.
I had said in an earlier post that the climate here had altered in that there are less bright days during the winter. I think I said that when I first came here the traditional weather was a snow storm blasting in from the west from Montana or an Alberta clipper from the Canadian west. The next week would be cold with bright sun.
Now overcast days or as I call them gray days are frequent and two days ago we actually had rain with temperatures above 0. The resultant ice has somewhat cramped Boom's and my travels. So I concentrated this week on skies, and got more dark skies. Hope you enjoy them.
I included the last photo, I don't usually shoot planes, to show you that skies are not always gray.

  12. They look a lot like my skies, actually nicer than mine. We saw blue yesterday but now our back the usual low clouds and fog that predominate this time of year.

  14. Lovely skies - the drama in the first couple, and that lovely blue sky. We have mostly clear days with an occasional snowstorm in the winter here too, but rain in December or January would probably herald the end of the world!

  15. We always did get a bit of a thaw in January, but rain you're right is crazy here, but maybe not the end of the world. Thanks for the visit and kind words.

  18. Haha, in the last photo which is my favorite, you DID provide solid evidence that the skies are not always gray!!
Great capture of the airplane and rising sun.

  26. Gary, we have had a lot of grey skies here too. Sometimes the sun is out (if we're really, really lucky) for an hour or two just after dawn, then thick clouds cover the sun for the rest of the day.
