Sandpiper of the Vermilon River

Solitary Sandpiper

Solitary Sandpiper
These photos were taken at Long Lake wetland. I had seen him twice before, but he was too far away in both cases.
I hike to this site, which is uninhabited, shooting along the way, and also use it as a blind area to see what's coming along. Its also a watering area for animals, and the wet ground makes it easier to see what's been around. Its an easy wait as the blueberries in season are delicious. I'm not certain but maybe the solitary refers to the bird's predilection for a lack of company because apart from the odd animal visitor there's no one around.
